How do you create value through sustainability?

City of Parramatta

The City of Parramatta Council, a local government area that encompasses Central Western Sydney is one of Australia’s fastest growing municipalities. The council area is widely regarded as Sydney’s second CBD.

The brief:

City of Parramatta required a feasibility study to discover whether the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) sustainability reporting framework was ‘fit for purpose’ to use as a support reporting tool in conjunction with Council’s Annual Reporting. Other reporting frameworks and standards were also thrown into the mix, to determine the pros and cons of incorporating elements of these within the annual reporting process.

ZOOiD delivered:

  • Literature review
  • Mapping of current sustainability impacts against the GRI framework disclosures, ISO 37120 Standard (sustainable development in communities) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Customised Critical Issues and Priorities (Materiality) workshop

Project outcomes:

  • Strategic document outlining the preparedness of the City of Parramatta to undertake reporting using the GRI Standards
