About Tassal Group
Tassal is the largest producer and processor of fresh and value added salmon products in Australia and is one of the top 30 global salmon companies. Tassal is a publicly listed company.
The brief:
Over three years of engagement, the Tassal sustainability reporting team required guidance throughout the reporting process to ensure alignment with the GRI framework, although by design to a lesser degree each year. With strong competition in sustainability reporting in the global salmon and trout farming industry, Tassal also needed to streamline their reporting across the GRI framework and the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) reporting requirements to demonstrate best practice in reporting.
We delivered:
Sustainability Reports for 2011, 2012 and 2013 (Level B with Application Level Checks)
Mapping the GRI general guidelines and Food Processing Sector Supplement against the ASC reporting requirements
Strategic planning, data collection, copywriting and editing
Management of the Application Level Check process with the GRI head office in Amsterdam
The outcomes:
In 2014, Tassal was rated as the world’s number one salmon farming organisation in corporate, social and environmental reporting by Seafood Intelligence.com, an independent international seafood market intelligence news and information service
Tassal’s sustainability reports are used company wide as a continuous improvement tool for sustainability
Greater engagement with internal and external stakeholders
A source of pre-approved publicly available communications on a variety of business relevant topics
A central point of reference has been created for Tassal’s sustainability activities
