Background:
Firestarter is an award-winning environmental organisation offering communication, management, education, promotion and major event organisation services to
businesses, government and community groups across Australia, with a strong
emphasis on environmental community interest projects.
Firestarter manages the ResourceSmart Schools Awards for Sustainability Victoria, the Melbourne Water River Health Youth Conference, and managed the Victorian Youth Environment Conference, 2007 for Landcare.
Prior to 2006, there was no inclusion of a media outreach program within the management plan. So, Firestarter outsourced the media outreach program to ZOOiD, with the goal of raising awareness of these important awards with schools around
Victoria, and also with the broader public.
ZOOiD Role:
- Designed and developed the media outreach program for all of the conferences prior to, during, and after the event
- Delivered the outreach program to print and broadcast media
- Created targeted media releases highlighting achievements of all award entrans
- Primary media liaison with Victoria-wide print and broadcast media
- Created post-conference reports for all events
- Extensive media coverage at all of the conferences, including Leader Newspapers, Fairfax Community Newspapers, Herald Sun, regional newspapers, and ABC774.
